**Definition:** A synthetic agent, also known as IMPY, with antineoplastic properties. IMPY inhibits ribonucleotide reductase, an enzyme that converts ribonucleotides to deoxyribonucleotides during DNA synthesis; this agent specifically binds the smaller, nonheme-iron subunit of the enzyme.
