Thrombotic Microangiopathy

**Definition:** A microvascular coagulopathy that may result from systemic vascular endothelial injury triggering the development of a procoagulant state, activation of the complement cascade, and microthrombi formation. Signs may include hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, hypertension and renal dysfunction.
