Sec 405 - Disposal of Sewage Sludge (Biosolids)

Section 405 of the Clean Water Act sets national standards for the disposal and use of sewage sludge, commonly called biosolids, on land or in water. It requires EPA certification that treatment methods meet pollutant limits, mandates permits for disposal sites, and establishes monitoring, reporting, and public notification requirements to protect water quality and public health.
