4.1 Understanding the organization and its context

Clause 4.1 requires the organization to identify and analyze internal and external factors that affect its ability to achieve business continuity objectives. This includes assessing the organization's purpose, strategic direction, legal and regulatory environment, market conditions, and stakeholder expectations. The analysis provides the basis for defining the scope and requirements of the Business Continuity Management System.
