B.9 Fault tree analysis

Fault tree analysis (FTA) is a deductive, top-down method for identifying the combinations of hardware and software failures, human errors and external events that can lead to a defined undesired system state. It represents these pathways in a logical diagram of events and gates, enabling quantitative or qualitative risk assessment and the prioritisation of corrective actions.
