Sec 16 - Penalties

Section 16 of the Toxic Substances Control Act sets out the civil and criminal penalties for violations of the law, authorizing the EPA to assess fines, injunctions, and, where appropriate, imprisonment. Civil penalties can reach up to $25,000 per day for each violation, while criminal penalties may include fines of up to $100,000 and up to three years' incarceration, depending on the nature and seriousness of the offense.
