**Definition:** An injectable ethanol-free formulation containing carmustine with propylene glycol, with antineoplastic activity. Upon administration, carmustine alkylates and cross-links DNA during all phases of the cell cycle, resulting in disruption of DNA function, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. The ethanol-free formulation of carmustine may lead to fewer toxicities than the ethanol-based formulation.
